Behind the Story

HMY HYDRAULIC CO is a startup partnership of Hydram technology company. Our company is ’The First Hydram Technology’ founder, community, production and manufacture in Brunei. 
Hydram technology is a forgotten technology which stands for hydraulic ram pump. It is a pump that did not require electricity, fuels or even solar to operates. The pump only utilized the power of natural source of water flowing or falling downhill to pump itself to communities. 

As a Bruneian and part of an ASEAN and a part of world of the population, the world now faces a climate change. According to BDCCP, the mean temperature in Brunei is increasing at a rate 0.25˚C per decade. In the next 30 years, Brunei will likely to experience an increase in temperature at a rate of 0.4˚C per decade.  Hence, we come up to design and produce our first sustainable and green pump to combat it and its impact. Moreover, with this small contribution can give bigger impact on tackling climate change in Brunei.

From the beginning, HMY HYDRAULIC CO founder & co-founder (siblings) have been driven by the interests of hydram community outside the country such as in UK, America, Indonesia, Thailand. The founder of the company has been thought why this sustainable pump haven't been introduced in our country where it has been so many beneficial solution to our current irrigation issues in agriculture.

Even though this pump is already invented 200 years ago, the founders of Brunei hydram believe it could participate and contribute Brunei's SDGs Agenda 2030 (SDG 7 - SDG 12 - SDG 13) and Brunei's 2035 Vision.

The conventional system of this pump is usually use for agriculture and communities live above the water source. What special of our pump is, it is locally made and designed by our founder and co-founder. It is not bought from other country's hydram and modified it in Brunei. It is originally made by Bruneian people and the prototype has been successfully lift up the water to 5 meter high. The prototype were named after their mother's name, where they named it 'Ruby Pump v1.0'.

As they joined from one competition to another, they have improvised its conventional system to 'Ruby Pump Micro-Hydro system' and developed Ruby Pump v1.0 size from 1-inch inlet into 1/2-inch inlet of Ruby Pump v1.0. As their research and product are developing, they found that it has opportunity for aquaculture and hydroponic system/community as Ruby Pump v1.0 can recycle the water system itself.

HMY HYDRAULIC CO. firmly believe their product is environmentally friendly, sustainable, valuable, beneficial and helpful for the communities as its cutting energy intensity & CO2 emission, and we can lessen dependence on fossil fuels.

Brunei hydram community is still a growing community, HMY HYDRAULIC CO still focused on improving and improvising hydram technology and enhancing our ruby pump.
